Zwinger Dresden - Carillon Pavilion - Caution fragile !

Zwinger's Carillon Pavilion (German: Glockenspiel Pavilion) is a very special treat. The almost symmetric pavilion was originally named 'Stadtpavillon' but it was renamed after a carillon made from finest Meissen Porcelain was installed on its Sophientor in 1933.
Every 15 minutes Meissen Porcelain bells record the passage of time by playing an especially for the carillon composed melodie, and, depending on the season, well known melodies like Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons", Humperdinck's "Evening Prayer" ("Abendsegen" - "Hänsel und Gretel") or Carl Maria von Weber's "Jägerchor" (Freischütz) can be heard at special times.
The wings to the right and left of the 17th century pleasure palace are home to the Dresden Porcelain Collection, the largest special collection of its kind in the world, extraordinarily high in quality and with 20,000 individual pieces of ceramics. The exhibits date back to the days of the Chinese Ming period of the rich resources of the reign of Emperor Kang Xi to Japanese Imariund Kakiemon porcelains of the early 17th und 18. century.
