The Three Gossips - Arches National Park

Arches National Park, Moab, Utah, contains the world's largest concentration of natural stone arches. The 73,000-acre region in Utah's arid Moab desert has over 2,000 natural sandstone forms carved by water and wind.

The Three Gossips, also called "The Three Wise Men", located in the Courthouse Towers section of Arches National Park, are comprised of a single mid-sized sandstone tower rising more than 350 feet from the desert floor. The top of the tower is split into three distinct summits, or "heads" of the gossips. The mediaeval looking red sandstone megalith figures seem to conspire secretly while they, whispering amongst themselves, overlook the main road winding through Park, watching the bustle below. They were part of a scene in the movie "Thelma & Louise".

Retreating at the end of the day, with the back-lit Three Gossips silhouetted on an orange sunset sky, is a classic example of how breathtaking things can happen when we understand the way nature operates. This silhouette of one of the Three Wise Men is a double bonus to experience a nature scene like this in person and bring it home to experience it all over again with a photograph.
